This latest set of prints are about flower beds, more specifically municipal flower beds. Developed from drawings made over several months in the summer of 2023, in London Parks.

Im really excited about 2 things,

1. Their size. The initial drawings were pretty large (A2) but the print image is reallly small (A6), making the subject feel jewel like.

2. I hand painted the positives to mirror something of the spirit of the original drawings. This made registration fairly unreliable but I like that.

Battersea Park has a more formal planting scheme than my previous Municipals. The layout of the original display beds was overseen by the Victorian adventurer John Gibson, who travelled the world for the exotic plants we see on display in the park today, 200 years later. The organised and often extraordinary planting decisions of this period gives Battersea Park a real eccentricity.

All of my work starts from drawing, its a bit like my training track, its where I work things out. I am a member of first wednesday drawing group and we meet up each month to draw at a specific location somewhere in London, where we all live.

British Museum, Jan 2024. I finally settled on room 20, the Ancient Greeks. I drew the objects to each other whilst taking away all context.

Referencing the materials of domestic life, its seams, frayed edges and selvedge, this work is about the absolute beauty of our ordinary lives and is dedicated to those who could take a scrap of material and turn it into something new.

Referencing the night sky above Salisbury plain, this work explores the link between logic and fantasy. Inspired by the disciplines of architecture, design and craft, my work explores the tipping point between comprehension and misunderstanding, the gap between fact and fiction. In this series of prints I have combined the physical (a piece of furniture) with the intangible (the night sky) in an attempt to visualise something about creativity.
